My experience in global health encompasses three major areas: health programming development, research, and communications.
Health Care ProgrammingFor the past ten years, I have been working with Wuqu’ Kawoq | Maya Health Alliance, a non-governmental organization that provides free health care in rural Maya communities of Guatemala. I have helped develop child nutrition, diabetes, and primary care programs.

ResearchAs the Research Director of Wuqu’ Kawoq | Maya Health Alliance, I oversee a number of ethnographic studies and monitor and evaluate health care programs relating to child nutrition, women’s health, and chronic diseases.
I have also consulted for Edesia, Inc., a non-profit manufacturer of nutritional supplements, on studies about malnutrition and supplementation use in Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Haiti. |
CommunicationsFrom 2014-2015, I was the editor-in-chief of Global Health Hub (globalhealthhub.org), an online information portal that keeps followers up to date on events in global health and development. I also contribute original content to this site in the form of popular articles based on my field experiences, book reviews, and interviews with global health experts.
